I think this collaborative protest conveys a crucial point for dismantling colonialism (and all systems of domination): the need to avoid defensive, individualizing responses. Harsha Walia expresses this eloquently:

"you know how people with privilege get when we talk about oppression, how they worry about ‘losing’ power - that they will become ‘inferior,’ ‘be discriminated against,’ and ‘others will have special treatment’ etc? Beyond it being factually untrue (i.e. power is structural, no such thing as reverse racism etc) i wish that people with those kind of defensive responses would understand that anti-oppression work is not about usurping or perpetuating power and control over them/others, it is aimed at dismantling and transforming power and domination in order for *all* people to have truly dignified and self-determined lives.” - Harsha Walia
